Disney on Ice - Worlds of Enchantment Review

As a child, one of my fondest memories was attending a Disney on Ice show. It’s one of those events that you never really forget. Over the last 4 years, I’ve attended 3 Disney on Ice shows and last night really showed me why I’ll continue to attend.
Let me start off by saying my daughters had no clue where we were going or what we were doing until we got into Key Bank Arena last night. Though to be fair, my youngest at 17 months old, did know. I talked with her about it all day yesterday, but because she’s just learning how to talk, I knew she’d keep my secret from her big sisters.
Our daughters at first, were convinced we were attending a Buffalo Sabres game until…..they started seeing kids everywhere and then light up toys and then…..cotton candy and Disney cups filled with rainbow-colored snow cones. It was at that point, my oldest knew (mostly because she had memorized the radio commercial that said opening night was Thursday, December 24th at 7pm). She started screaming and jumping up and down. Her younger sister then caught on and gave my husband and I the biggest hugs.

Disney on Ice: Worlds of Enchantment Event

Having 3 kids, 2 parents that work full time and lots of activities that go on in our family, it’s not an everyday, week, month or year occurrence that we get down to the arena so I was very pleased when the usher helped us to our seats! As a family with a baby, end seats are a must!!! We had the perfect spot, the corner of the rink where I knew from past performances, many of the characters would come to.
We had 45 minutes to spare so we took care of the bathroom breaks, the “I’m hungry” moments and of course the Minnie Mouse light up ears ahead of the show starting.

The lights went down, the curtain went up and out came everyone's favorites, Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Shortly after, Goofy and my personal favorite Donald Duck arrived. Within seconds, I looked over to see my 9 year old, 8 year old and 17 month old listening to every word and paying attention to every movement they made.

It's Toy Story Time

First up were all of the characters from Toy Story including Andy. The soldiers were the first to arrive on the ice and it was amazing. They came from everywhere including a soldier coming down from a parachute. Then each character from the hit movie came on to the ice. You could hear the crowd roar as some of their favorites skated out like Rex, Slinky Dog, Barbie, Ken, Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head, Hamm, Jessie, Bullseye, Buzz Lightyear and of course, Woody.

One of my favorite acts was Barbie & Ken. My 8 year old loves playing with her barbies and Ken is a must no matter what so when it was just them on the ice, I watched as she danced along with the music and waved to them as they skated by. This act was action-packed full of fun music, multiple dress changes in seconds (and when I say multiple, I'm not talking 2 or 3), amazing synchronized skating, and lifts that had my eyes half-closed (because that's what we do as parents when we're nervous).

When the remaining cast returned to the rink, it was synchronized skating and you could tell that everyone in the arena was having a blast.

Under the Sea on Ice

After seeing Disney on Ice multiple times, my all-time favorite act has always been The Little Mermaid. The colors, costumes and dancing will blow you away. Though my phone storage didn't appreciate the amount of photos I took, other than scuba-diving in the ocean, there's no where else you'll see such vibrant and fun colors of these costumes.

At this point in the show with a 17 month old, I'm half expecting her to be ready to go home. It can be a bit nerve-wracking to take a young one to a big event like this, but she sat on my lap for most of the show and Under the Sea is what really had her going. She was bouncing up and down, trying to join in as all of the kids in our section sang the songs and danced along with Ariel.

As the villain, you couldn't help but be impressed with Ursula and her evil eels, as they effortlessly skated around the rink with huge costumes on. Plus, there's not a kid who's not excited when bubbles float down from the ceiling.

They even chose a few children to ride on the ice. I wonder if parents could have volunteered because I would have jumped at the chance to be close to my childhood favorite - Flounder.

As this came to an end, the one thing I love about Disney on Ice is that they offer intermissions. They know they've got kids everywhere and don't want them to miss the show. Giving parents 20 minutes to handle bathroom breaks, refreshments or just standing up to stretch truly does make a world of difference.

From The Racetrack to The Ice Rink with Cars

When intermission came to an end and the lights went down, we all heard a voice and knew instantly who it was.....Mater. You just heard screams of excitement from the entire arena. What blew me away was the fact that these were actual cars on the ice. It was so much fun to watch them race around the rink and in classic Mater style, we got to watch him go backwards.

Besides Toy Story, Cars was a new addition for me at this event. Lightning McQueen, Doc Hudson, Sally Carrera and Ramone were just a few of our favorites. If nothing else, cars on the ice is something you don't see everyday and worth attending Disney on Ice: Worlds of Enchantment for.

Frozen with Excitement

The last act of Disney on Ice: Worlds of Enchantment was Frozen and what a showstopper it was. At previous Disney on Ice shows, I've seen Frozen and each time it gets better and better. Being so close to the ice, we were able to see amazing details like Elsa's light up snowflake dress, Anna's smile as she waved to us and we were that much closer to meeting a real life snowman - Olaf. Kristoff and Hans even joined in on the fun along with the townspeople.

Plus, there was fountain that was shooting out actual water and I don't think you can ask for much more than snow coming from above....especially when you're from Buffalo.

One of our favorite parts was when Elsa came to our corner and magically changed outfits right in front of our eyes with just a puff of smoke. There were fireworks, snowflakes on the ice and did I mention snow falling down on us? Seeing my kids, along with everyone else in the arena singing the song that all parents across the world know.....Let it go, was so much fun.

Colorful butterflies and bees skated out as Olaf sang his famous "In Summer" song.
Frozen always does an amazing job and it's the perfect way to end the show.
